Is this real life or just my crazy fantasies?
For years I've written book after book. Actually, that's a lie. I've started writing book after book. It always seemed that my ideas for stories had great beginnings, but inevitably I reached a point where I had no direction, and I would throw my hands up and walk away. Two years ago I decided the problem wasn't with my stories, but with me. I finally figured out that I was afraid to take that leap, that jump off the high-dive into the genre that I most loved to read.
I'm not a mystery writer, a crime writer. Though I enjoy reading them, I could never seem to make those stories gel. Oh, I could probably make something like that work eventually, but I drink enough as it is. No, my calling seems to be of a more basic nature - romance, sex, and erotic fantasy. I classify my writing as erotic romance.
I've been asked a number of times just what exactly that is. Here is my explanation.
I can write a romance book. It would be a sweet little story and you would fall in love with the characters, the setting, and there would be little to no sex. I can write an erotic fantasy book. It would be full of sexual fantasies, with little to no romance, just sex, sex, and more sex in all its various forms. To me, erotic romance is the best of both worlds. My readers get a romantic story with healthy doses of sexual situations. You root for the couples and bask in their sexual explorations. Let's face it, I'm a romantic at heart, but I thoroughly enjoy the sexuality I incorporate into my stories.
Are my books for everyone? Obviously not, and that's alright. It takes all kinds to make this crazy, amazing world we live in continue to turn on its axis. This has been a learning process for me. I've found the publishing and advertising a true challenge. I continue to learn each and every day, and hopefully, I am growing as each new situation presents itself.
I'm still finding it hard to believe that my first three books are published. Are they best sellers? Obviously not. But maybe one of these days. Until then, please be patient with me and all my trials and errors as I continue on this journey. As always, thank you to those who have shown me such love and support. You, my dear fans, make this all worthwhile!
Happy reading!
