Meant To Be

Good morning, my Lovelies! It's Veteran's Day here in the USA and I have to take a minute to thank all of you who have served in our armed forces, especially my family and friends. Your call to action and service does not go unnoticed and my gratitude for you, your time, and your sacrifice cannot be measured.

How's everyone doing? Me? Eh. I'll survive. For the record, I've now re-written this blog three times. Please be happy knowing that I didn't leave you with a listing of all my woes as I found myself doing with each and every prior version.

I wanted to take a moment and discuss soulmates. I don't know about you, but I fully believe that each of us has a soulmate. In fact, I believe that we may have more than one. You see, I feel that there are different levels of soulmates.

In my mind, we have a soulmate that we connect with romantically, a soulmate that we connect with emotionally. We have a soulmate that we connect with sexually, and a soulmate that we connect with on a best friend level. There may even be more levels than that, but I think you see where I'm going. If we are truly lucky, the person we end up spending the rest of our lives with embodies more than one of these levels.

I've joked for years (as I sit writing this with Supernatural playing in the background) that Jensen Ackles (Dean) is my soulmate. And while I think he is one of the hottest men alive right now and if he wanted me I'd rock his world, I feel that the soulmate connection that he and I would share would be that of an emotional/best friend level. He just seems like he would be THE GUY to be with if you wanted to have a good laugh and a great time while rocking out to some classic tunes.

Why am I talking about soulmates? I've been thinking about how my characters connect in my writing and I realized that though I believe we may have more than one soulmate, I've written each and every one of my characters as only having one. Realizing this is opening my mind to new possibilities for my future stories and I can't wait to share them with you.

Does this mean my characters may have to make some hard decisions? Maybe. Does this mean love triangles? Maybe. Does it mean more drama? Most definitely!

Whatever it means, I just hope that you all enjoy it and that it touches you, that it makes you feel...something.

It is my sincere hope that each of my readers has found their soulmate(s). If not, don't give up. They're out there. I promise.

Until next time, and as always,

Much love, affection, and prosperous soulmate searching from me to you!

Shelly (a/k/a Dawn Love)
